Badir created the art review and critique webspace ArtAboveReality.com to focus on the rising street art movement, artists of color in contemporary art, and essays on artistic culture. Through dialogue and research, he hopes to educate artists on a growing cultural marketplace simultaneously introducing underrepresented neighborhoods to fine art programming. Badir and his curatorial work have been featured in LA Weekly, WhiteWall, and Artillery Magazine(s). Portraits Of Yesteryear – Virtual Exhibition

ArtAboveReality is pleased to present “Portraits of Yesteryear”, a group survey highlighting contemporary artists across multiple art practices. What do we remember about yesterday? How has it changed? What’s still as you remember it? Many people across the world have lost family members, jobs, and more which allows them to see through different eyes. These portraits are a reflection of a time we used to know – a show of humanity. Yesteryear, referring to a life-changing event is analyzed throughout these images allowing the artist a moment of reflection, and the viewer a chance to gain the artists’ perspective from their visual stories. Curated by Badir McCleary of ArtAboveReality.

Metropolis – Exhibition Walkthrough

Metropolis – A Snapshot of Art Making in Los Angeles. “We are informed about the gallery space but never involved with it as being an extension of the artist’s studio – a haven that purifies emotions through the evocation of fear, stimulation of thought and interaction.” – Faisal Abu’Allah

Relational Chemistry – Exhibition Walkthrough

ArtAboveReality is pleased to present “Relational Chemistry: An Introspective of Urban Experience”, a group survey highlighting nineteen contemporary artists in the city of Philadelphia. Focusing on their grassroots origins, “Relational History: A Introspective of Urban Experience” speaks to the artists using their practice to realize and then share their identities, an entrance, for the viewer, into the artist’s inner selves.

Podcast

Welcome to the Reality Talks Podcast where we speak with working artists and arts professionals on navigating the art world. Through introspective conversation, our guests provide knowledge on the market, public projects, and the artistic process. With these guests and their educated input, we hope to educate the listener on best practices for growing their overall knowledge of the art world. The three main channels of the podcast are In The Studio, The Art Lounge, and Contemporary Art Conversations.

In The Studio offers an inside look into the studio practice of the visual artist. From fabricated materials and works in progress to exhibition preparation, viewers get a chance to understand and experience the process firsthand. In The Art Lounge, we sit and talk with collectors of art objects (new and seasoned) to talk about their goals of collecting and supporting the arts. On Contemporary Art Conversations, we take a closer look at the business of art and the habits of the stakeholders. Through these channels, we offer our viewers a first-hand look into the process of the creative enterprise we call The Global Art Market.
